The 3rd Annual Memorial Golf Tournament raised money for Nicole’s passion, advocacy for those less fortunate and unable to obtain those services for themselves (particularly children and families). An award (“The Nicole Richardson Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award) is given each year to a University of Oregon graduating law student who has shown that same passion throughout law school, and intends to practice in the area of public defense and pro bono work following graduation.
The tournament also supports the annual “Nicole Lynn Richardson Scholarship Fund to the Western Trial Advocacy Institute”, with funding going toward tuition for defense attorneys to attend this noted trial skills conference.
In addition we welcomed the addition this year of the Iowa Donor Network, which is dedicated to the promotion and support of organ donation. The State organization will have a visible presence, and we are pleased that also in attendance will be Dan Boonstra of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who was the recipient of Nicole’s kidney through the organ donation process.
The 3rd Annual Nicole Lynn Richardson Golf Tournament originally started in 2007 in Colorado by Nicole’s friends and colleagues, the tournament moved this year to Iowa. It was held at the scenic and challenging Lake Panorama National Golf Course located just North of Panora, Iowa on July 10, 2009. Great Prizes and Silent Auction Items, $5,000 Hole In One Prize, Prizes on other par 3 holes as well as “Flag” prizes, Green Fee, Cart, and Prime Rib Dinner were served following play.
